A brand to trust — We are honored that Susan G. Komen for the Cure® ranked number one in a recent Harris Interactive poll as the most valued non-profit brand and the charity people are most likely to donate money to. Additionally, Komen for the Cure ranked second on the 2010 list of the nation’s most trusted charities. Thank you to all who help us daily in the fight to end breast cancer!
For this year's National Employee Appreciation Week the Roanoke Pepsi Bottling Group celebrated the community in which their employees live and work by selecting the Greater Roanoke Valley Susan G. Komen for the Cure® as the beneficiary of the PBG WINs Program. (Pepsi Bottling Group: We Are Involved Neighbors)has a national Employee Appreciation Week. PBG celebrates their employees for an entire week!!! They have steak / chicken lunches, they get chances to win prizes, they get gifts, and encourage employees to donate their time and/or money to a non-profit organization. Pepsi matches their individual contributions.
Organizer, Paige Bower said, "This year during employee appreciation week, we sold plastic Easter Eggs to our employees. Inside each egg was a prize. These prizes ranged from a candy bar to a sweatshirt to a $100.00 gift card. We sold the eggs and had each employee choose a charity they would like their money to go to. At the end of the week whichever charity that had the most interest in, that's where we donated all the money! It was fun to watch the employees try to out buy each other and get extra points for the charity that they wanted the money to go to. And...Breast Cancer Awareness was our employee's choice! "
The President of Greater Roanoke Valley Komen Affiliate, Dr. Robert Williams, said, "It is organizations and dedicated employees like these at Pepsi that are making a huge contribution to breast cancer education and prevention in the Greater Roanoke Valley. Thank you for all that you do and for caring about this important cause. At Susan G. Komen for the Cure, our mission is our promise, to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. You are making that possible."
